Musical celebration of Azaadi
On the 65th anniversary of Indian Independence, Life OK honours heroes — then and now — through Azaadi — a four-day special celebration culminating today.
Azaadi celebrates the pride of being an Indian and aims to inspire the next generation to build a stronger, safer and brighter nation. A show meant for the entire family, its moving stories have tugged at heartstrings.
The event to be aired on the channel today, is a three-hour musical dance drama special. Irrfan holds the show together as narrator and host and takes viewers through the journey of Independence starting from the 1857 mutiny till date. He plays the role of the conscience that brings out the subtext in the various acts and ties them to our everyday existence today. Several talented actors play key roles. Karanvir Bohra will enact the role of Mangal Pandey, while Kratika Sengar brings Rani Laxmibai alive. Bhagat Singh will be played by Sushant Singh while Kinshuk Mahajan will enact Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's character. Child actor Ayush will play the role of Gandhi. Sanjeeda will depict the empowerment of women. Other performers in the show include Mouni Roy, Ada Khan, Siddharth Shukla, Manish Raisinghani and Rithvik Dhanjani.
Earlier, the channel aired a concert by Mika — he performed Vande Mataram for the CRPF Jawaans. That section also included Neha Dhupia's visit to the LOC, to give the audience a glimpse into the lives of the real heroes. Neha interacted and stayed amongst soldiers who confront danger every day in the toughest battlegrounds.
Azaadi will air today evening 5 pm.
