New images reveal the Sony Xperia T

Sony's latest smartphone could be preparing for launch

New images reveal the Sony Xperia T

Rumors about Sony's Xperia T, also known as the Xperia Mint, have been making the rounds for the past few weeks.
Most of those reports are about to be put to rest, as leaked photos of the latest Xperia handset have emerged.
Bulgarian site Nixanbal unveiled nearly three dozen images of Sony's smartphone, and detailed the upcoming phone's specifications.
Though the Xperia T wasn't expected to make an appearance until Sony's IFA 2012 press conference, the images on display appear to be from a final retail model, and not a prototype handset.

Does the Xperia T stack up against the competition?

Initially reported to have a 4.3-inch screen, the specs reveal a 4.6-inch screen, with 720p HD resolution.
A 13 megapixel camera, capable of shooting full 1080p HD video, will put the Xperia T's 16GB of built-in storage to good use. Though the phone will also come with an SD card slot for expandable memory.
Whether those features and the Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM will help the Xperia T push its way into the discussion of flagship phones like the Galaxy S3 and rumored iPhone 5 remains to be seen.
With Sony's IFA press conference set for August 29, we won't have long to wait until the Xperia T (or Mint) makes its official debut.
